Defender Juuko signing elevates Express status

Express FC's Juuko Murushid.

Before last Friday’s announcement, Express had signed 15 players ahead of next season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League. None, however, had raised as much expectation as that of Murushid Juuko who officially joined the Red Eagles on a year long contract.
Little wonder that talk at his unveiling immediately shifted from what they previously described as assembling a competitive side to talk of fighting for the title.
Whether that talk materialises or not, Express fans will cherish the arrival of a player who has in recent years become a mainstay in the senior Cranes team who once gets playing time is sure to return immediately to the national team fold.
“We’re glad to have Murushid on the team, his experience speaks for itself without a doubt, his discipline will help the youngsters in the team to become better,” Express coach Wasswa Bossa revealed.

Juuko whose last domestic club is the now defunct Victoria University joins from continental giants Wydad Casablanca with whom he fell out over contractual obligations.
“Firstly I want to appreciate the CEO (Isaac Mwesigwa) and the head coach (Wasswa Bbosa) for making this happen, I am happy to be here, Express is a big club and it’s current progress speaks for itself and I am sure we are going to win silverware this season” he stated.
Juuko who  has also previously featured for Vipers and Tanzanian giants Simba brings with him a wealth of experience coupled with his game intelligence that should help the six time champions compete with the rest of the big sides.
He joins other new signings at Express including goalkeepers Denis Otim and Cryspus Kusiima, right-back Richard Bbosa, midfielders Isaac Nsengiyunva, Abel Eturude, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Mahad Kakooza, Baker Sakah, Faisal Ssekyanzi, and forwards Charles Musiige and Kiragga Mustafa. Express conceded 37 goals in 25 matches to finish ninth on the 16-team log before the league was halted because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
