Kenya’s top MX riders to skip Garuga event

Ivan Guya, the reigning Kenya champion, Apolo Mbuki, Rohan Gandhi and Samir Sherman, are the top stars out of the event. The first three are busy with their exams while Sherman is still recovering from an injury.
Kampala- Kenya’s top four MX1 riders will miss the first leg of the Mountain Dew East and Central MX Championship at Garuga next Sunday.
Ivan Guya, the reigning Kenya champion, Apolo Mbuki, Rohan Gandhi and Samir Sherman, are the top stars out of the event. The first three are busy with their exams while Sherman is still recovering from an injury.
However, Maxime van Pee, Team Uganda’s captain, has played down the news of the Kenyans absence.
“It is disappointing in terms of competition in MX1 but that will not stop us (Uganda) from scoring maximum points in other classes,” Maxime, the reigning national MX1 champion, said. He added: “Kenya still has a strong team of 17 riders in other classes. We are going to score as many points as possible because in the return leg in Nairobi in December, Kenya will definitely field a strong side.”
