What you need to know:

Forward Jude Ssemugabi again helped himself to a brace while there were further goals for Fred Amaku and Ronald Otti. The result sees Kitara rise two places to 11th position with 14 points, five above the relegation zone.

Kitara continued their ascendancy in the Startimes Uganda Premier League following a smash and grab 4-0 win away win over Maroons at the Prisons Ground in Luzira on Thursday evening.

Forward Jude Ssemugabi again helped himself to a brace while there were further goals for Fred Amaku and Ronald Otti. The result sees Kitara rise two places to 11th position with 14 points, five above the relegation zone.

It was achieved via a fast start in which Maroons were punished for a slow start, conceding twice in the opening 12 minutes.

First, a freekick was headed back across goal by defender Benjamin Nyakoojo with forward Amaku showing more desire in meeting it with a thumping header on nine minutes.

The second goal arrived two minutes later when Ronald Otti was allowed space to head in Kabon Livin's in-swinging corner at the far post.

Before Maroons could regroup, they conceded a third goal on the break when Frank 'Zaga' Tumwesigye beat Maroons' offside trap to set up Ssemugabi who finished calmly past goalkeeper Simon Tamale on 30 minutes.

Maroons coach Muhammad  Senfuma reacted by taking off the out of sorts midfielder Felix Okot and Abel Eturudde as they took control of possession.

They improved greatly in the second half and should have pulled two goals back when fredrick Kigozi failed to score from a rebound after Kitara goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima punched substitute Bashir Mutanda's freekick back in play.

Mutanda then inexplicably lifted the  ball over after being released by Ivan Mayanja in the box.

Mutanda then wasted another opportunity before Kitara put the icing on the cake when another substitute Marvin Nyanzi released Ssemugabi to round Tamale and score into an open net with the last kick of the game

The result ended Maroons' revival that has seen them rise to sixth place with 16 points going into match-day 12 after a four-game unbeaten run.

In Lugazi, the hosts played out a fifth consecutive stalemate following a third consecutive 1-1draw this time with Mbarara to leave the two team 12th and 13th respectively on the 16-team log.
