Nec, Kitara can't afford to blink

Nec, sitting second on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 30 points, head to Mbale Municipal Stadium with a clear mission: to pile relentless pressure on table-toppers Vipers, who lead by a single point. 

With Vipers having played Maroons on Monday, Nec's clash with the struggling Mbale Heroes presents a golden opportunity to stay hot on their heels in the title race.

Yellow jinx

At Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara, third-placed KCCA, with 24 points, face a must-win battle to shake off the stadium jinx and their shaky form over the last six games. 

If they are to stay within touching distance of runaway leaders Vipers and Nec, Abdallah Mubiru’s side must address their glaring flaws - blunt in attack, fragile in midfield, and disorganized at the back. 

Against Livingstone Mbabazi’s 12th-placed Mbarara City, sitting on 14 points, KCCA must rediscover their winning touch, especially as their hosts often rise to the occasion against perceived league giants.

Hoima on fire

Fireworks are expected at Butema Royal Park today as Wasswa Bbosa's 10th-placed Kitara, with 18 points, look to extend their upward trajectory against seventh-placed defending champions SC Villa, who sit on 20 points.

 Villa come into the clash riding high on confidence after their narrow 1-0 victory over URA at Luzira Grounds on Saturday, setting the stage for a fiercely contested encounter.

Morley Byekwaso’s Jogoos will be banking on striker Francis Onekalit, who finally ended his 13-match goalless drought with a crucial strike against URA, to replicate that form against a resurgent Kitara side. 

Despite their recent revival, Kitara were held to a goalless draw by Wakiso Giants in their last outing on Sunday, adding more intrigue to this highly anticipated showdown.

Revival mission

Bul, sitting eighth with 19 points, host Steven Bengo's struggling Wakiso Giants, who are third from bottom with 11 points. 

Bul coach Abbey Kikomeko will be counting on striker Isaac Wagoina, who bagged a brace in their last outing, to maintain his scoring touch and secure another vital win for the Jinja-based side.

Alex Isabirye's URA, reeling from a narrow 1-0 loss to Villa, will aim to improve their sixth-place standing and 21 points when they host giant-slayers Police, who sit on 18 points. 

Police, fresh off holding KCCA to a goalless draw, will be looking to frustrate yet another big side in what promises to be a gritty encounter.
