Hours after sending coach Srdjan Zivojnov back to Serbia, SC Villa are not any closer to not only finding a replacement but also seem further away from knowing what’s wrong.

Losing 2-0 to traditional rivals Express in Bell Super League on Friday at Namboole showed that the actual problem, at least on the pitch, seems like a mirage.

The record league champions are fourth from bottom with meagre eight points from eight games having scored only thrice.

Caretaker Joseph Kanaaba skipped from one side of the rope to other seeking the causes, symptoms without any groundbreaking prescriptions.

“Our physical fitness is below par. By 30 minutes, no one could run 10 metres,” Kanaaba stated. “We were lethargic at best. We ran like headless chicken”

Villa fans sat there like on a visit to the graveyard while the opposition roared before kick-off and went on minutes after the final whistle.

They may not have loved the opener off a Julius Ogwang header as Kanaaba made numerous tactical changes which seemed like a rush of blood than an effort to fight back.

Bonny Baingana left both sets of fans with momentarily equal joy when he raced past the Villa defence, calmly collected along ball, danced past Benjamin Ochan and slotted into a gaping net. A moment no one can erase quickly. It was sad to see him limp off in pain.

Kanaaba, who exhausted his substituitions by the 55th minute, went on. “Our attitude is poor if we go a goal down and are susceptible to counter attacks. “The chances (Villa had) were few and far between.” Earlier, George Abege scored a brilliant brace to give Maroons a third straight victory beating Water 3-0. They have not conceded in all three games.

Maroons are third on 14 points, level with Express and Bunnamwaya below them in that order.
