What you need to know:

Joint tournament top scorers Livingstone Mulondo and Yunus Sentamu delivered the goals for the Venoms on yet another smash and grab victory for the team co-coached John Luyinda Ayala and Fred Muhumuza.

Vipers defeated KCCA 2-0 to win the Stanbic Uganda Cup and complete their second league and cup double in the first ever game played at the Fufa Kadiba Stadium in Mengo on Saturday evening.

Joint tournament top scorers Livingstone Mulondo and Yunus Sentamu delivered the goals for the Venoms on yet another smash and grab victory for the team co-coached John Luyinda Ayala and Fred Muhumuza.

They have hardly been dominant in games throughout the course of the season but seem to have mastered the art of punishing opponents at the slightest opportunity.

Saturday was another such moment this time played infront of a bright atmosphere with the Kadiba divided into a sea of the majority KCCA yellow and Vipers red.

After the early jabbing, Vipers struck the first major blow when goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa made a mess of an Allan Okello in-swinging corner parrying the ball into the path of the on-rushing Mulondo to bundle in a remarkable fourth goal of the tournament for the defender.

The goal belied KCCA's aggressive early approach that saw them lucky to escape with just two bookings given to Emmanuel Anyama and James Mubeezi inside the opening 25 minutes.

They then dominated the rest of the half with Anyama heading wide and then finding the side-netting after a quick break.

KCCA also started the second half on the front foot and were unlucky not to equalize when Ashraf Mugume's pile driver struck the underside of the cross bar but did not cross the line with Vipers goalkeeper Dennis Kiggundu well beaten on 51 minutes.

Matters were then compounded four minutes later when KCCA defender Peter Magambo miskicked Milton Karisa's harmless header to allow Yunus Sentamu in on goal.

The striker chested the ball before thumping a beautiful volley past Mugolofa for the second goal.

And while KCCA huffed and puffed they were denied even a consolation goal from the alert Kiggundu.

The result helped secure a second double after the 2023 feat and could allow Vipers and tournament sponsors Plascon to paint Kadiba red.
