It is a testament to the progress made since 2013, when the sport was fragmented and disorganised. Remember about the two parallel leagues. The fights for sponsorship monies.
Today, Fufa has made significant strides in governance, administration and sport technical development.
In 2013, Ugandan football was plagued by challenges that hindered its growth. However, under the current leadership, FUFA has implemented various reforms, introducing innovations and engineering changes that were once deemed impossible.
The establishment of a proper governance setup, robust financial reporting systems and a focus on commercialisation have all contributed to the sport's development.
As we look to the future, the priorities are clear. Governance compliance, football the sport with technical development, football the business with eyes on finances and infrastructure development will be key areas of focus.
The Fufa Technical Master Plan, which includes mass football development, talent identification programs and elite player development, will be crucial in shaping the future of Ugandan football for the next four years.
One of the most significant challenges facing Ugandan football is inadequate funding. This has resulted in insufficient investment in football programmes, meager remuneration for players and administrative staff and a lack of resources to develop the sport.
However, with a focus on unlocking the commercial potential of football, Fufa aims to generate sufficient resources to invest in promoting, developing and protecting the game.
The upcoming Chan 2024 and Afcon 2027 tournaments present a unique opportunity for Uganda to showcase its football prowess and infrastructure.
With the Fufa Kadiba Stadium just 25% complete and the construction of new facilities, Uganda is poised to host international events that will not only promote the sport but also generate revenue and improve infrastructure.
As Fufa moves forward, it is essential to engage with key stakeholders, including Fifa, Caf, Cecafa, and the Government of Uganda. Building bridges with these organisations will be crucial in soliciting support for Fufa's programmes and initiatives.
Internal stakeholders, including the 34 member associations, clubs, referees, coaches, players, media and fans must also be involved in promoting, protecting, and developing the game.
The future of Ugandan football is bright and in good hands, with a clear vision and roadmap for success.
Fufa is poised to take Ugandan football to new heights. As the sport continues to evolve, it is essential to stay ahead of the curve, embracing innovations and best practices that will drive progress and success.
With Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim's leadership and vision, Fufa is set to achieve great things. As the sport continues to grow and develop, it is essential to stay committed to the cause, working together to build a brighter future for Ugandan football.
