Jinja high court grants 132 royal Rwenzururu guards bail

The high court in Jinja has granted bail to 132 royal guards of the Rwenzururu kingdom who have spent 4 years in detention.

The Attorney General of the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu Alfred Makasi says they will file more bail application for the remaining 60 prisoners who are held in different prisons.

Over One hundred people lost their lives when a joint operation between police and the army attacked the Rwenzururu palace in Kasese district on 26 November 2016 following long standing tensions, unresolved grievances, and sporadic violence between the government and the Rwenzururu kingdom.The Rwenzuru king Charles Wesley Mumbere and hundreds of his supporters and royal bodyguards.
