Members of Parliament on the Presidential Affairs Committee are urging the Committee on Budget to request that the Ministry of Finance allocate Shs108.6 billion in the 2025/2026 financial year to address Kampala's ongoing garbage crisis. The committee is pushing for the operationalization of the Buyala landfill in Mpigi, as well as the compensation of 48 households affected by the Kiteezi landfill collapse.

Additionally, the committee is calling on the Ministry of Finance to allocate Shs2.8 billion annually for the construction of at least five offices for Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) across the country. These measures aim to improve waste management and ensure better infrastructure for local administration.
