Steeplechase Peruth Chemutai remains in frame to become the first Ugandan woman to win an Olympic medal. This after clocking nine minutes and 12.12 seconds to reach this week’s 3,000 metres steeplechase final at the ongoing Tokyo Games. Chemutai, who also holds the national steeplechase record, finished behind Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi in the day’s quickest heat. Chemutai says she now has her eyes set on a podium finish in Wednesday’s final.
