The Ministry of Energy has confirmed to NTV that starting April 1, Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (UEDCL) will take full control of the assets and systems previously managed by Umeme Ltd. Speaking to NTV, Irene Bateebe, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, stated that the Auditor General is finalizing the assessment of investments Umeme made over the past two years, following the government's decision not to renew the 20-year concession.
