FDC opposes vote for parliamentary commissioners
The parliamentary committee on rules, discipline, and privileges has completed a report on the amendment of the Administration of Parliament Act. One of contentious clauses provides for the election of Commissioners of Parliament. The Parliamentary Commission manages the institution of Parliament. In the report, following nomination from the government and Opposition sides, those nominated as commissioners will be subjected to a vote by all MPs. However, Opposition Chief Whip Ibrahim Semujju says this will undermine multiparty Democracy.
