Three people including Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi have been shot dead.
Kaweesi and two other police officers were shot dead by unknown assailants about 100 metres from his home in Kulambiro, Nakawa Division in Kampala.

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Mr Emilian Kayima confirmed the Friday morning shooting.
“This morning, one of our senior colleagues AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi was gruesomely killed as he was going for duty. He was killed at about 9:30 am along with his body guard, Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Wambewo. It is very unfortunate incident. Al;l experts are here to manage the crime scene. We will give more updates as they come in,” Mr Kayima told journalists at the crime scene.

It's not yet clear how Kaweesi and the other two officers were killed but the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura and other senior security officers have rushed to the scene to ascertain what could have happened.

Their bodies were taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for post-mortem.

His bodyguard, Sgt. Mukasa was also shot dead. The two were driving to the city in a UPDF pick-up truck on Saturday at about 7:30 am.

The Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura has appointed AIGP, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, spokesperson of the police force

as the Force attempted to repair its image tainted by a string of brutality incidents and public relations nightmares.
Mr Kaweesi, whom Gen Kayihura had earlier removed from the Kampala Metropolitan Police command and later from the Directorate of Operations for being “in the media too often”, had been tasked to reclaim the Force’s lost public trust.
