Just like a day, life is a cycle. Therefore, how you prepare for it will have a bigger say on how your future unfolds, writes Annet Katusiime.
The future is what we don’t have but we imagine being in it. Today is very important to plan for the days we don’t have and yesterday was equally important because we reap what we have sown.
The human life cycle is just like an ordinary day that has morning, afternoon and evening phases.
Similarly, in our lives, we have such a cycle and for many it gets challenging at every stage.
In Uganda today, the biggest population is comprised of youth, which means that the country has a very high productive level.
However, the challenge comes when you dig deeper into understanding the contribution of this sector of the population, which according to available data, is non-productive and mostly depends on good will to survive.
Youth, by the nature of their age cycle, are considered to be productive people. Therefore, it gets worrying if they can’t have the contribution that is expected of them.
Many of them have folded their hands and blame government for failing them.
However, as a youth, we have a role to play to change our mind set towards finding work.
There will always be scarcity of jobs but every individual has to find work for personal survival as well as contributing to the country’s growth.
Life is determined by the actions you have forgone and those you have decided to take at every phase.
One needs to understand that every second you waste will never be recovered and postponing issues is only delaying the inevitable.
In Africa, people in the age bracket of 18 and 35 years are considered young. However, it is people in that age bracket who have changed the world.
Therefore, don’t sit back. Start whatever you can do and push it through until you succeed.
This is the time you need to work smart knowing that every penny counts. So there is no time to waste, it is time to prepare for the future.
How you prepare now will always determine how your future looks like and it is the time when you have to explore into the unknown.
Embrace mistakes because there is no straight success as most of us face failure in life but that doesn’t mean you get buried in it.
It’s a great opportunity to pick up lessons and learn from them.
That investment that turned into a night mare should not be the reason for you to stop investing, that job you lost shouldn’t be a reason for you to stop living your dream.
Life unfolds to people differently but you have to be ready to take on the ruins to remain relevant. Otherwise you will be swept off without you realising.
Never try to please everyone because the most painful heartbreak come from the most unexpected people.
Make decisions that will benefit you and bring fortune for not only the company but yourself.
Remarkably, everyone cares for their wellbeing but there are people in your circles who will look out for you.
Therefore, stick with them because they are the kind of people you need on your road to prosperity.
Beyond that, time is a very important component of success, nothing comes abrupt, and every success is measured by how long you saved, and how much you have invested.
Take time to figure out what you would like to do with your time and money.
Make sound decisions to avoid wastage of time. Prepare and prepare. Your morning phase is key for your evening phase.
Being broke is as hard as earning to be financially independent. So you have to change your mindset as soon as possible.
Save as much as you can and invest to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
