Minister lauds firm for bar code technology

KAMPALA. Trade minister Amelia Kyambadde has commended Toshiba tech for introducing the bar code technology in the country.
Bar code is a stripe of lines on most internationally certified company products with codes below the lines. Having a bar code gives a product international acceptance.
She was speaking at the official launch of Toshiba International on the Ugandan market in Kampala recently.

“Recently when I was launching local content at Shoprite Lugogo, the manager said Ugandan products had no bar code on their products. With this innovation, our products will penetrate such markets,” she said.
According to her, before this launch, most Ugandan companies had to go to Kenya in order to get a bar code which coasted them money and loss of time.

“It is a good thing for Ugandans to embrace latest technologies. This will help in promoting Information Communication Technology hence development of the country,” he said.
