Tech firm offers employment opportunity to all Makerere first class graduates in ICT

KAMPALA
The Norwegian Tech-Firm (Laboremus) based in Uganda says it is ready to offer an employment opportunity to the students who graduated with first class degree in Information Communication Technology last week from Makerere University.
During its 66th graduation ceremony Last week Makerere University presented the full list of all First Class graduates, which included: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (1 student students), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (15students) and Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (2 students).
In an interview with Daily Monitor on January 27, Ms Lucrezia Biteete, the Managing Director, appealed to all the First Class Makerere graduates of this year to send in their application.
“If their name is on the official list, they can send an email to [email protected], and provide us with a CV, motivation letter and proof of identity. Based on that we will schedule an interview for them and if they pass we will offer them an opportunity in Laboremus,” she said.

Uganda is faced with the problem of youth unemployment currently standing at 83 per cent unemployment a situation which has continued to affect Uganda’s development process.
Ms Lucrezia said since they want to expand the company (Laboremus), the leading software development firm in Uganda, has decided to invite all the best and brightest graduates within ICT for interviews and if they pass they will be given the job.
The company was set up in Uganda in 2013, and within the shortest time it has become the leading software development firm in the region. Laboremus currently exports software to both Norway and Kenya.

Ms Lucrezia said in Uganda Laboremus reached important milestones in Uganda by delivering an HIV/AIDS mapping tool for the Uganda Aids Commission, and providing a new investor platform (portal) for the Uganda Investment Authority called the one stop center.
“Laboremus has also provided software for digital archives for the Ministry of Internal Affairs for passports and for the Ministry of Finance Planning Economic Development for teachers’ payroll,” she said.

The company works as an outsourcing partner for the Norwegian entity, as well as for the local clients on systems such as digital archives, Monitoring and Evaluation/Management Information Systems, web portals and mobile applications.
Ms Lucrezia says the company specializes in developing customized software such as business process automation, business intelligence and Internet banking.
