Procedure of Museveni 4th term swearing in

President Museveni is swearing-in today Thursday, at Kololo Independence Grounds, for the fifth time since taking power as a guerrilla fighter in 1986, and the second time in a multi-party dispensation. Below is the procedure for the swearing in ceremony.

  • Master of ceremony Presidency minister Beatrice Wabudeya who will take over from her assistant Lt. Col Felix Kulayigye and Alice Muwanguzi Kampala Resident District Commissioner

  • Electoral Commissioner Eng Badru Kiggundu will be invited to proceed to the swearing in podium

  • President elect will proceed and Eng Kiggundu will introduce him to the nation

  • He will invite Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki to podium to minister oath of allegiance and oath of president to president elect

  • Chief Justice, Head of Public Service/secretary to Cabinet and chief Registrar of court of legislature will proceed to podium as the electoral commission chair resumes his seat

  • The chief registrar will present bible and oath of allegiance to the president elect and the president will take oath of allegiance.

  • The chief registrar will present oath of president to the president elect and president takes the oath

  • Chief registrar takes the bible after oath and guides him where to sign on the oath of allegiance and oath of president

  • Chief registrar guides chief justice where to counter sign on the two oaths

  • Chief registrar presents one by one the instrument of power to the chief justice

  • The instrument of power include: the Constitution, national Flag, the presidential standard (presidential flag), national anthem, court of arms and public seal

  • The chief justice hands the instrument of power to President

  • The President then takes salute
