55 passengers escape death as bus catches fire

MPIGI. At least 55 passengers including traders and school children on Friday escaped being killed in fire that caught the bus they were travelling in.
The incident occurred at Mitala Maria village near Buwama town in Mpigi District on the Kampala – Masaka Highway when the Tanzania-bound bus, NG Travellers registration number UAW 549U caught fire and property worth millions of money burnt to ashes.

The cause of fire couldn’t be identified by press time.
Mr John Baptist Kasango, the officer in charge of Buwama Police Station told this reporter that they were investigating the incident.
"We are yet to find out whether this fire was due to a mechanical fault or something else but our fire team managed to rescue all the occupants and there were no injuries," he said.
