Central Bank gets new secretary

The board of directors of Bank of Uganda has appointed Ms Susan Wasagali Kanyemibwa as bank secretary (executive director).

Kampala. The board of directors of Bank of Uganda has appointed Ms Susan Wasagali Kanyemibwa as bank secretary (executive director).
Ms Kanyemibwa’s appointment, which became effective last week, comes as an elevation from the position of director board affairs. Her signature will now be on all the new bank notes printed.
In an interview about the new appointment, BoU’s director communication Christine Alupo said: “Ms Kanyemibwa’s appointment as a secretary will be required to oversee the legal, communication and border affairs of the bank.”
“She will also be handling the bank’s corporate governance and culture on how they reach out to their customers,” Ms Alupo added.
Ms Kanyemibwa replaces Mr George William Nyeko, who was retired after serving for six years.
Mr Nyeko has worked with the Central Bank for the last 32 years in various departments.

Who is Kanyemibwa?
Ms Kanyemibwa has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Master of Laws (LLM), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (DipLP), a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) of UK.
Before joining Bank of Uganda, she served as company secretary and head of legal affairs at the Monitor Publications Ltd.
Her other responsibilities include membership on the Board of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda.
