What you need to know:

I haven’t met her family but she seems like a grounded woman who was raised well and knows the value of family

The first time I heard about and saw Hon Rebecca Kadaga was in high school at Namasagali College School. She used to visit our school regularly on the invitation of Father Damien Grimes (one of the first head teachers at the school). I’m proud to call her an Old Girl of Namasagali College. One of the many products this wonderful college has produced thanks to Fr Grimes.
My impression of her was this strong, very smart woman, who always stands out in what she does. Also a woman who is not easily intimidated by anything or anyone.
I have seen Hon Kadaga at very many events where I have been, but I met her formally during the WOMAN video shoot. She graciously allowed me and my cameras into her office at Parliament. She was exactly what I expected.
Power, authority and strength of a woman oozes out of her. And yet she is kind and welcoming at the same time.
I like that she uses her position to speak out for the girl-child and women. She brings attention to the issues being faced by young girls.

On what more she can do for women
I am sure she is doing a lot already. But I would love to see her use her office, position and influence to create more opportunities for women in terms of career and education. Help women access schorlaships to study so they can use those skills to elevate themselves and serve Uganda. And also bring more attention to health issues and domestic violence against women.
The most important lesson I can learn from her is that you can succeed in whatever career path you choose to take on as a woman, no matter how male-dominated it may be.
I would like to stand out in whatever I do and also be a source of inspiration to other women. Just like she does.
I am curious about what she does during her free time. Plus what or who she turns to for inspiration.
I haven’t met her family but she seems like a grounded woman who was raised well and knows the value of family.
