Monitor MD steps down

The Monitor Publications Limited Managing Director (MPL), Mr Alex Asiimwe, has stepped down from his position.

The announcement was made in a communication to staff on Monday morning by the Nation Media Group (NMG) Chief Executive Officer, Mr Linus Gitahi. MPL is a subsidiary of the Nation Media Group.

“Mr Asiimwe has asked to step down from his position effective November 28 after three years of leading the company through some fairly challenging times,” said Mr Gitahi. “Altogether, Mr Asiimwe will have served NMG for 14 years with distinction and we are very grateful for the significant contributions he has made to the success of the NMG businesses.”

Talking about his exit, Mr Asiimwe said: “I am humbled to have been given this opportunity to serve NMG in various roles. I have no doubt that the experience gained is immensely valuable. I am also confident of the potential of MPL to soar to greater heights. I thank the board, management and staff for the support given to me to work, learn and grow through highs and lows.”

Mr Gitahi added that Mr Stephen Gitagama, who is the NMG finance director, will temporarily assume the responsibilities of MPL managing director until a replacement is found.
