Kampala. Police on Wednesday arrested and detained opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)'s Chief Mobiliser Ingrid Turinawe and other activists.
Ms Turinawe was arrested outside Nakawa Chief Magistrate Court after attending court where detained opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye appeared for further mention of his treason case.
Ms Turinawe and other suspects yet to be identified were taken to Jinja Road Police station.

There was however a minor scuffle as Ms Turinawe insisted that her driver who had become unconscious after a beating by unidentified security operatives be taken to the hospital.
After a protracted argument, the driver only identified as Kamutima was reportedly carried to a waiting Police ambulance and taken to the nearby Naguru Hospital.
This however did not calm Ms Turinawe who insisted that a caretaker go with her driver. Tears flooding her eyes and spilling down her cheeks, Ms Turinawe who shouted at the top of her voice refused to record a statement until Ms Winnie Nakajubi (the caretaker) was allowed by the Police to go to the hospital.

“You are going to kill him, you can shoot me but I will not sit down until you allow her [the caretaker] to go with him to the hospital,” she shouted.
Mr Micheal Kasigire the DPC Kiira Road ordered for Ms Turinwe’s detention but she remained defiant until the caretaker was allowed to go to the hospital. Police officers at the station declined to state the reason for her arrest or what charges will be preferred against her.
