KAMPALA. The police marine force is mourning the death of their colleague who drowned in Lake Victoria during rehearsals.

Henry Komakech reportedly drowned on Sunday at about 15:30hours when he was in the middle of Lake Victoria diving with a colleague.
According to Mr Samson Lubega, the police human resource directorate’s spokesperson, officers tried to save his life in vain as he had drowned at one of the deepest points in the lake. His body was later retrieved and taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem.

In March this year, a police officer Richard Kaweesa, under the Counter-terrorism tactical unit, was hit by a helicopter during the landing procedure at the airport after jumping from another that was in the air during rehearsals.
The officer was rushed to a hospital in Kampala, but was later pronounced dead.
