KAMPALA.

Like in their previous encounter, Patricia Apolot dominated against Jackie Nassimbwa as she retained her National Women Kickboxing light weight title at the MTN Arena on Friday evening.
In front of a sparse crowd, Nassimbwa had her resistance broken in the fifth round after being on the receiving end of several kicks that forced the referee Charles Mugoya to halt the fight.
With no local opposition likely to come up soon, Apolot promptly revealed plans to challenge for a continental title. “It is time to move to another level because there isn’t much competition left,” bragged Apolot who also won all the first four rounds to remain unbeaten in five professional fights. The win also won her sponsorship from Gordon Wavamuno who pledged to cater for her training expenses for future fights.
The result meanwhile was Nassimbwa’s third straight loss since turning professional having won all eight of her amateur fights.
The other key bout had Alex Masiko inflict another defeat on Romanian Istvan “Betyar” Szucs his second loss to a Ugandan after being beaten by Moses Golola last year.
This one though was a lot closer with little to separate the two fighters throughout the three minute five round bout that was eventually decided 2-1 in Masiko’s favour.
