Day one: Duncan Mubiru tops Kabalega rally

Duncan Kikankane Mubiru and George Ssemakula in Subaru N14 took the hounors after day one of Umospoc Kabalega Rally here. The Kikankane Rally Team crew recorded a time of five minutes, fifty nine seconds over two runs totalling 4.82km. Ronald Ssebuguzi and Leon Ssenyange in EvoX came second in a time of 06:23 secs, veteran driver Christakis Fitidis and Eric Nzamwita in Evo X were third clocking 6:33secs.

Alwi Hassan and Joseph Kamya in Subaru N14 came fourth ahead of Unisan Bakunda, Musa Kabega in that order. Thirty three cars started the event which ends tomorrow. Drivers will have to negotiate 172.78Km spread over 10 competitive sections tomorrow (Sunday).

Earlier, there was a scare when Evo9 of Yusuf Bukenya and Dan Mbabazi caught fire but thanks to the quick reaction of fire marshals who saved the situation. The crew eventually return during the second run.
