KAMPALA. In a David versus Goliath battle, Ugandan Raphael Buti pulled off a rare feat by defeating Egyptian Grand Master El Gindy Essam in round five to win his fourth point at the ongoing Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship yesterday at City Oil, Kamwokya.
“I looked at the Grand Master’s games and I had a very good idea of what to expect,” said Buti.

“I think he used a lot of time because he was surprised that I was so prepared to play against him.”
The Ugandan now believes he has increased his chances of finishing among the top players.
But he also tipped unbeaten teammate and Fide Master Arthur Ssegwanyi, who drew against International Master Elijah Emojong, to win the continental championship.
