KAMPALA.

Ugandan players should grab the home advantage if they are to win the third World University Netball Championships trophy, team captain Irene Eyaru said yesterday.
The event will be hosted by Makerere University from September 17-21.
Eyaru, from Uganda Christian University (UCU) took part in the World University Netball Championships 2016 edition in USA, where Uganda emerged fourth.
She therefore states that team Uganda has all it takes to win this competition.
“With the absence of stronger nations, the likes of England, Australia and Jamaica we encountered in the previous competition, and the home advantage we have, I believe this year’s championships will go well on our side,” she said.
She adds that most of the players on the current team have featured for the national team, the She Cranes which makes them good for a university event.
Meanwhile Florence Adunia who also took part in the 2016 edition believes team Uganda is favourite to win this year’s championships.
“When I look at the team training, and the experience we have, I cannot fail to list the Ugandan team among the best teams in this competition,” she said.
Uganda is drawn in pool A with USA, Singapore and Kenya. Meanwhile defending champion South Africa are drawn in pool B with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
Uganda was fourth out of the eight that participated in the inaugural edition held in South Africa in 2014.
