KAMPALA. It has become a perennial song from organisers for top stars to keep away from familiar venues in the Nile Special National Pool Open championship preliminary round.
So Kampala-based players end up seeking qualification from upcountry venues. For example, 2015 Kampala Open champion Simon Lubuulwa earned qualification in the Nile Open that year from Fort Portal.
He is still not seeded among the top eight and so, he can turn up at any venue just like 2015 Open winner Amos Ndyagumanawe. The preliminary round resumes at different 53 venues this weekend with 15 of those around Kampala.
David Owori, who has made it to the Lugogo finals thrice in five years, could feature when action takes centre stage at his famous hang-out spot Capital Pub in Kabalagala on Friday night.
The mini-qualifiers will go as far as Arua, Masindi, Pader, Kitgum, Kiboga and Lira this weekend.
