When attention of the world sports fraternity turns to Shanghai, China next week for the 2015 Laureus World Sports Awards, Ugandans will turn to 93.3 KFM for extensive coverage of the biggest sports awards in the world, also known as the Oscars of Sports.

This after Lindemei investments through their Urban Gweke brand facilitated KFM Sports Producer Patrick Kanyomozi to travel to China for the awards. Build-up to the awards has already started on the radio station and will continue throughout next week.

The winners, as voted by the Laureus World Sports Academy, made up of 50 of the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of all time, will be unveiled at the Awards Ceremony staged at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on April 15.

Speaking about the sponsorship, the Manager of Lindemei Investments Joseph Kagame pointed out that the snack appeals to many sportsmen hence the need to bring these awards closer to them as a way of giving back to them.

“Urban Gweke and sports go hand in hand, many of our customers are either sportsmen or sports enthusiasts so this is another way of connecting with them,” Kagame said while handing over the air ticket worth $1,500 dollars to Kanyomozi at the company premises in Kawempe.

The nominees for the Sportsman of the Year award are Novak Djokovic (Serbia) Tennis; Lewis Hamilton (UK) Motor Racing; Renaud Lavillenie (France) Athletics; Rory McIlroy (UK) Golf; Marc Márquez (Spain) Motor Cycling; Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Football.
