KAMPALA.

Weatherhead ensured men's National Hockey League leaders Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) Stallions remained within reach by holding them to a 3-3 draw yesterday at Lugogo.

Vincent Kasasa opened the scoring for Weatherhead from the penalty spot as early as the fourth minute after KHC keeper Michael Mafabi was judged to have clipped opposition striker Arnold Kasumba while he was through on goal.

KHC immediately recollected and were repaid when striker Habib Sewava, scored twice from short corners in the 17th and 23rd minutes - his first goals of the season after playing five games.

Weatherhead, however, got the equalizer through Kasasa. Kasumba's relentless efforts also earned them a short corner which Peter Elolu utilized to score the third just before the break.

The second half was all KHC but they could only find a late equalizer through Sewava in the 61st minute.

Weatherhead remain second with 14 points while KHC are top on 16 with a game in hand.

Earlier, KHC's female side Swans held Deliverance Church of Uganda (DCU) to a goalless draw.

Swans' off pitch disorganization came to the fore again as they played most of the game with only 10 players. The situation got worse deep into the second half as defender Lindah Nanteza sustained a head injury that had her hospitalized while the Swans remained nine on pitch.

Swans are fourth with seven points in six games while DCU are second with 10 points- one ahead of Weatherhead that play point-less bottom side Rhinos today at Lugogo.
