KAMPALA. Rugby Cranes 7s player Emmanuel Ecodu has joined league champions Kobs from Impis.
Ecodu, who was part of the team that represented Uganda at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow two months ago, switched alongside Impis captain Keith Sseruyange, Adnan Mutebi and Augustine Kasansula.
Sseruyange was part of the Rugby Cranes side at the Safari 7s in Nairobi last month while Mutebi captained the under-19 national team in 2011.
Kobs paid an undisclosed fee for Ecodu whose exploits in Glasgow where he scored a try in Uganda’s 43-5 loss to Australia and Safaricom 7s had earlier attracted interest from Heathens.
“After Namilyango College, I played my first club rugby with Boks, the understudy side of Kobs. Kobs also has my first coach in Fred Mudola. He was my mentor in high school. It was always going to be hard to resist Kobs when they came calling,” said the 25-year-old Ecodu.
Impis team manager Emmanuel Luyinda said they are in the process of filling the void left by the four players.
