As Kobs begin their championship defence, their main rivals Protector Heathens will also be taking on Mutoni Warriors across Jinja road at Kyadondo RFC in a bid to claim an accolade they brought home for five years (2009-2013) in a row until Kobs ended their run last season

Kampala.
When Kobs captain Brian Odongo leads his side out of the dugout today against newly promoted Makerere University side, Impis for their first game of the 2014/2015 Nile Special Premiership, only one thing will be on mind of his team.

“We are out to make sure we defend our title from the first game. Our goal this season is to win all our games like we did last season which is very possible,” said Odongo.

Last year’s taste of glory must have left them yearning for more thus getting busy in the transfer window which closed at midnight. Kobs raided Impis to get signatures of Adnan Mutebi, Keith Seruyange, Augustine Seruyange and Emmanuel Ecodu. They also added Derrick Tutkwasibwe on their roaster from Protector Heathens.

Last season’s MVP Oscar Kalyango who also doubles as Kob`s assistant captain has warned Kob`s title rivals to expect a tough season.

“We are starting from where we ended last season, we are much stronger and better prepared than we were last season. It’s going to take a lot of guts for anyone to topple us.”
Kobs coach Allan Musoke is likely to hand debuts to his new signings against their former employees at Legends Rugby Grounds today afternoon.

As Kobs begin their championship defence, their main rivals Protector Heathens will also be taking on Mutoni Warriors across Jinja road at Kyadondo RFC in a bid to claim an accolade they brought home for five years (2009-2013) in a row until Kobs ended their run last season.

“I think they deserved it last season. They were exceptional and played every game like a final but we are hungrier this time and may the best team emerge on top come February,” said Heathens captain Michael Wokorach.

Elsewhere, Rhinos entertain Pirates in the opening game of the campaign at Legends while Toyota Buffaloes are on the road to Entebbe to take on Sadolin Mongers at their new home ground.
