KAMPALA. Daily Monitor Sports Desk team under name Team Egypt beat three others to win the inaugural Fifa World Cup Quiz by DStv on Monday.

The team comprising Monitor Sports Editor Mark Namanya and Ennyanda’s Editor Fred Musisi Kiyingi, senior photojournalist Eddie Chicco, captain Darren Allan Kyeyune and reporter Deusdedit Bugembe won two of three rounds to edge Teams Senegal, Morocco and France.

Egypt scored eight out of 10 in football general knowledge, collected another eight out of 10 in Fifa World Cup facts and finished with six out of 10 in question about DStv to win voucher prize money worth Shs100,000 at Sky Lounge.

“The different age generations in our side gave us the advantage,” captain Kyeyune said. “It’s a big awakener ahead of the global showpiece.”
The Quiz by Master Eric is one of DStv’s innovations ahead of the June 14 – July 15 showpiece that will be hosted in Russia.

“We are not only the official broadcasters of the Fifa World Cup in Uganda but we are also going to engage our customers and fans in more quizzes like this,” DStv’s Head of Marketing Phoebe Nakabazzi said.
The Quiz will be held in selected parts of the city such as Hill Top in Kololo.

At the event, Nakabazzi also launched History (DStv channel 187) that will provide the history of the Fifa World Cup.
