Munyonyo seven-a-side facility to offer rare opening

A number of countries with the brand of short-passing football credit small sided pitches with honing impeccable skills of youngsters.
While that is far from being achieved in Uganda particularly with the declining number of sports grounds, steps although unstructured, are being made.
The latest is a modern pitch in the affluent Munyonyo area whose completion is set for December. “There is a shortage of quality pitches in the country and we are looking at bridging that gap. We want to create an atmosphere where a stadium can host all age groups as well as evening games,” Honest Kavuma the proprietor stated at the inspection of the facility yesterday.
Strong connections
Kavuma who is said to have strong connections with Bayern Munich is also partnering with Proline Academy that will set up a branch to accommodate children in the area.
“We are trying to grow the game as people who are passionate about football even though we know it is government’s obligation to build stadiums,” Kasule a Proline Director said.
The facility seated on one acre will also host a tennis court and a gym facility while the football games will be played on an artificial turf in addition to a sports shop. Being an outdoor facility, it will be the first of its kind in Uganda while the country also boasts of other indoor football facilities in Ntinda, Kyebando and Busega and another under construction in Mengo.
