A 30-man KCCA contingent including 18 players and 12 officials have arrived in Egypt to complete what manager Mike Mutebi deems yet another step forward in their continental quest.

Uganda’s Champions League representatives, who touched down in the North African nation yesterday morning, are lodged in at Tolip Bourg Al Arab Hotel, Alexandria.

KCCA will face Africa’s most successful side, Al Ahly, tomorrow night knowing they will only be playing for pride.

The Ugandans and Township Rollers of Botswana were Group A’s minnows but can still show what they have got tomorrow.
Esperance, who are away at Township, and Al Ahly already qualified for the quarterfinals with two and one match to spare respectively.

KCCA, third in the group on six points, four behind the two leaders, have never won in open play in Egypt.
But they will take encouragement from the historic 2-0 victory over the same side in Kampala a few months ago, where Sadam Juma and skipper Timothy Awany were on target.

Sadam was again impressive as KCCA dispatched Onduparaka to lift the Pilsner Super 8 Cup title on Saturday, the midfielder scoring once in that. Allan Okello got the other.

“Like I said,” coach Mutebi told Daily Monitor, “We are not in the Champions League group stages to just participate.
“We came to compete and against Al Ahly, Africa’s most successful club, we shall respect them but we are going to compete.”
