What you need to know:

  • For Mutyaba, It was still another case of trying so hard and achieving so little until he was replaced by Waiswa on 75 minutes.
  • After watching Namibia put up a solid and attacking display in their surprising 1-0 win over Ivory Coast, Sebastien now has his work cut out when the two teams meet tomorrow.

KAMPALA. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
In a bid to put back Uganda Cranes progress ambitions back on the rail, head coach Sebastien Desabre is contemplating ringing drastic changes by dropping KCCA midfielders Ibrahim Sadam Juma and Muzamir Mutyaba for Moses Waiswa and Rahmat Ssenfuka in tomorrow’s game against Namibia in Marrakech.

Sebastien is hinging his decision on the fact that the team lacked the much needed urgency with the ball and were limited in the final execution with Sadam and Mutyaba running the show in the 3-1 humbling by Zambia in the opening game on Sunday.

Already the Frenchman has confirmed that Vipers custodian Ismail Watenga, available after suspension, will start in goal ahead of Benjamin Ochan, whose howler gifted the Zambians their third goal.

Sadam had steadfastly held forte in the midfield with Mutyaba and Taddeo Lwanga until Zambians Donashano Malama and Kondwani Mtonga outpaced him in the second. He was withdrawn for striker Muhammad Shaban on 70 minutes.

For Mutyaba, It was still another case of trying so hard and achieving so little until he was replaced by Waiswa on 75 minutes.
After watching Namibia put up a solid and attacking display in their surprising 1-0 win over Ivory Coast, Sebastien now has his work cut out when the two teams meet tomorrow.

The 41-year-old tactician expects Waiswa, a technically gifted player who is equally good at set pieces, to add bite in the team’s creativity whereas he wants to exploit Ssenfuka’s tireless runs to add vibrancy in the midfield.

“The coach has told players to remain positive (that progress is still a possibility),” Uganda Cranes media officer Ahmed Hussein told Daily Monitor yesterday from Marrakech.

“He has emphasized to them to replicate what they did in the first half in the game against Zambia in all the remaining matches (against Namibia and Ivory Coast), he added.
