Kampala. Reigning Airtel-Fufa Most Valuable player Muzamir Mutyaba is enduring the worst run of form ever, sadly at a time he was supposed to prove to doubters that he deserved the aforesaid accolade last month.
The KCCA stylish playmaker has been far from the driving force he was when the club was cruising to the double last season - and he admits it.

“God willing, I will get back to my best form soon,” he revealed yesterday before Cranes played Congo in the last friendly game in Rabat.
He knows that a further insipid display would hamper his dreams of getting a professional stint.
“It (getting to paid ranks) is what everyone would wish to target. I will get better,” he added.

Mutyaba was largely off-color in the Kenya Cecafa Championship as the Cranes bowed out at the semifinal stage and he is yet to fully impress new coach Sebastien Desabre who benched him against Guinea on Saturday.
KCCA, he hasn’t had a rest period,” he opined.

“Sometimes it burns out. At the end of season, KCCA was in the continent and immediately started the league then Cecafa now Chan.”
As Mutyaba regains his Midas touch, midfielders Allan Kateregga, Sadam Juma, Moses Waiswa and Taddeo Lwanga have exploited the chance to impress. To Police coach Abdallah Mubiru, who coached Mutyaba at KCCA, his dip in form could have resulted from a catalogue of factors mainly the perceived changing lifestyle off the pitch.

“There are number of factors that can influence a given player’s performance.
“They include; lifestyle, attitude, training regime and methodologies, mental toughness, game management, poor nutrition, poor recovery, illness, lack of Strength and fatigue and playing too many matches without enough recovery period,” Mubiru told Daily Monitor yesterday.

Such is Mutyaba’s sudden decline that his name featured among the two players that were set to be dropped before the Cranes head to Marrakesh to face Zambia, Namibia and Ivory Coast in Group B.
The others were midfielders Tom Masiko, Rahmat Senfuka and Abubaker Kasule.
According to Maroons coach Asaph Mwebaze, who handled Mutyaba in his formative years at Luzira grounds, he must have run out of steam because of playing too many games nonstop.

“He has played too much football without rest. Since he joined KCCA in 2015, he hasn’t had a rest period,” he opined.
