What you need to know:

Soccer. The defunct FSL made a brief ghostly visit to the competition, sending a decoy email to the media an hour to Friday’s kick-offs saying the league had been suspended over the TV debacle. But three games were played.

KAMPALA. A meeting of the supposed 16 clubs had sat on Thursday and apparently made a resolution not to play games if Uganda Premier League (UPL) matches scheduled for live broadcast on Azam TV were not televised.
For right thinking members of society, that was just yet another of the several such unyielding meetings.
And they treated it just as that, especially in the knowledge that no such televising of games would happen with a standing temporary court injunction on Fufa’s termination of their MoU with Uganda Super League (USL) and SuperSport, which was controversially shelved to accommodate Azam.
No wonder an email from the Fufa Super League (FSL), signed by Hajji Mukasa Abbas Kaawaase – the supposed FSL chairman – an hour to the three kick-offs, had been treated by KCC-Simba, Rwenshama-SCVU (game meant for apparent live broadcast) and Bul-Soana was treated with the deserving contempt.
The FSL ‘suspending’ the league had ceased to exist with the UPL - as agreed by government and stakeholders – coming into force, only revived to serve the purpose of negotiating a deal with Azam.
The UPL went ahead with KCC soaring at the summit on 36 points following a comfortable 2-0 victory over Simba at Lugogo. Herman Wasswa and his replacement Derrick Nsibambi’s beautifully constructed two second half goals capped what was arguably Abdallah Mubiru’s best game since replacing George ‘Best’ Nsimbe as coach late last year.
KCC and SC Villa, who were not in action on the day, are level on 36 points and on the same goal difference, but the former have scored four times more.

Michael Birungi beat his man down the right and his cross was headed into Wasswa’s way, who finished meticulously as he connected the ball nonstop with the inside of his right on 55 minutes.
A combination of neat passing football involving Ivan Ntege, Owen Kasule, substitute Paul Mucureezi and skipper Tom Masiko was beautifully completed by Nsibambi on 87 minutes for a 2-0 scoreline.
“Yes I’m pleased because I also love watching good football and good movement in front of goal,” said Mubiru, “this is something we can build on.”
At Nakivubo, coach Charles Ayekho made it two wins in as many games since taking over at Rwenshama as they piped SCVU 1-0, lifting the struggling side one place up to 14th with as many points.
