Kampala.

In order to avoid any match fixing scenarios, the Nile Special University Football League organizing committee has moved the final games as the battle for quarterfinal spots hits up.

Consequently, only the Kyambogo-KIU Group B game will take place this afternoon with four other games moved to Friday and Sunday.
KIU who are bottom of the six team group with two points from four games need to win by a six goal margin away to leaders Kyambogo to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

“Its true things are looking very tight for us but we still have a chance and need to work with it.

“It’s a huge mountain for us to climb. We need to win and to win big and then hope that the results elsewhere go in our favour,” KIU coach Junior Baziwane said ahead of the game.

Kyambogo, that has already sealed qualification, top with eight points ahead of the final round of games. That is two points ahead of UCU and Gulu with the top four teams qualifying from each of the two groups. KIU will then hope that Busitema and Mubs who play simultaneously on Friday lose against UCU and Gulu respectively in order for them to progress.

Similarly the Group A games involving UMU-Ndejje and Must –Mak will also now be played concurrently on Sunday.

Meanwhile one unbeaten run continued and another ended as Kampala University edged Nkumba 1-0 yesterday. The win was KU’s first ever over Nkumba and was owed to Emma Kabonge’s 14th minute strike. KU thus finished the first round atop Group A with 13 points while Nkumba University are second with 10 points.
