What you need to know:

Piato Restaurant is one top notch eatery that shall leave you craving more.

Piato Restaurant has been around for nigh two years and while the beginning was never easy in terms of consistency and quality, given the lay of the land and excellent location, only a doubting Thomas would ever have thought that they would not succeed.

They seem to have landed on the right man who brings a wealth of experience, including having worked in the United States of America.

Today, when one looks at the high end Kampala food scene, here we are talking Shs25,000 a cover, two places come to mind; the by now legendary Café Javas and Piato which not only fit the bill but will seldom fail to please diners.

Menu
Piato is the kind of place where a large and expansive menu works because they have the traffic to justify the menu, not to mention the resources needed to sustain it.

Piato is a large place with several dining areas and they also offer conference facilities giving it an advantage over the competition. Perusing the menu, one finds pizzas of many descriptions and an Italian menu that is credible not to mention the Indian dishes, Mex-Tex. In the main their forte lies in good wholesome continental cuisine.

While I cannot honestly claim to have tried everything mentioned on the menu, several people I know have dined there and tried some of the aforementioned types of food and they have been positive in their appreciation.

We had a meal there and for starters we ordered the spring rolls and bacon sticks. There is not much that one can say of the bacon expect that it was quality while the rolls with their superb phyllo pastry were well-made and the size was perfect.

The bites
For the main course I chose the pork chops served with potatoes and rice while fellow trencherman went for the fillet of tilapia with a Zanzibar sauce. Pork chops served in Ugandan joints all too often tend to be locally sourced and are either too fatty or too thick and tough to boot. While Imported ones from Farmer’s choice are pricey, at least one is always assured of consistency.

I would recommend the pork chops any day. The fish too was very good. The food lived up to our expectations. For dessert, the warm apple pie a la mode (with ice cream) was perfect was warm as expected and tasty. The service is professional and cleanliness, second to none.
