Eric Wainaina to headline at Blankets & Wine

Kenyan musician, Eric Wainaina will be headlining the ninth edition of Blankets and Wine, an afro-based picnic styled music festival that happens in Nairobi and Kampala to showcase genres of Afrocentric music.
Eric Wainaina was one of the top performers during the musical Hapo Zamani, a unique blend of contemporary live African music, visual art, food and comedy. It was held every quarter back in 2008.
The Kora-award nominee is a gifted lyricist, vocalist and guitarist, whose fame lies on songs like Sawa Sawa, Daima, Nchi Ya Kitu Kidogo, his acclaimed song against corruption. He uniquely stands out for his modern harmony.
The 41-year-old singer is widely respected and was recently commissioned to write music for a United Nations Millenium Development Goals campaign titled “8 Goals for Africa” which featured African greats such as Angelique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Oliver Mtukudzi and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
On the same stage will be local artistes; Susan Kerunen who is known for her rich fusions of Alur and African music. Janzi Band will also be playing as well as Radio & Weasel.
The day-long event brings together fun-loving people to bask under the sun as they sit on mats and other sitting facilities to enjoy good music, tasty mchomo and sip on wine and other drinks. It is held at Uganda Museum’s public grounds.
Entrance is Shs50,000 and gates open at midday.
