KAMPALA. By the time today’s Nile Special Premiership ties kick off, table leaders Hima Heathens could have stretched their lead after they faced Toyota Buffaloes yesterday afternoon.
That will be welcomed as motivation for both Betway Kobs and Stanbic Pirates who sit second and third respectively.
Kobs, on 40 points host Hippos, a side they blew away 54-0 on the opening day. Like Kobs, Pirates beat Walukuba 50-9 in the reverse fixture to kick-start their title defence.
The title race is still wide open but the chasing pack know they must stay in it by maintaining a good streak of form. “We have to keep winning games,” Pirates coach Bobby Musinguzi told SCORE. His Kobs counterpart Fred Mudoola cites the importance of consistency as his side chase a first league title since 2016.
“This league is a tough one and it calls for the ability to grind out results every weekend,” he observed.
Rhinos take on Warriors in the most balanced game of the day. The tie saw Warriors claim a 23-9 victoryin the first round but Rhinos will have revenge on their minds.
Warriors have suffered three straight defeats after winning six on the spin. Elsewhere sixth-placed Plascon Mongers will be trying to improve their fortunes when they host Rams who sit ninth and are languishing in the relegation zone.
