Mukono- Democratic Party president Norbert Mao has said the party is in the process of unifying its ranks to emerge at the top of democratic forces to defeat Mr Museveni.

Mr Mao said this during the party reunion in Mukono on Wednesday.

“We want to unify our ranks but DP cannot be the agenda for change unless it is united,” Mr Mao said.

He said they [party] need to be united and move from being subcontractors to main contractors to succeed.

“We always go looking for other leaders to become the main contractors to be president and we become subcontractors instead of being main contractors ourselves,” Mr Mao observed.

He said the reunion’s policy is reconciliation as they want to forget the wrong they have done to one another.
“The politics of Uganda has become like a storm since Mr Museveni came to power, with hailstorms and strong wind,” Mr Mao said.

He said some people have been looking for cover from other parties as some have gone to FDC and NRM when there is a storm.

He said DP leaders have been a problem; misleading people about the party but the ordinary people are not. He also said the delegates’ conference is coming between next year and 2020 and they have to choose leadership early so that if there are wounds, they can be healed.
