A prominent businessman who was allegedly strangled in his house in Ggaba - Kawuku, in Makindye Division last week, died of natural causes, Daily Monitor has learnt.
A police postmortem report shows that the late died of natural causes.
“There was no foul play in his death, he died of natural causes,” the director Police Medical Services, Dr Moses Byaruhanga, said.
Medi Kahuma, 33, a businessman dealing in land and gold passed away on October 10.
The businessman preferred a solitary life for fear of being stigmatised, according to close relatives and friends who spoke to Daily Monitor.
There were media and police reports claiming assailants strangled him in his posh home before robbing his belongings including title deeds, shoes, money and other luxurious items.
Daily Monitor investigation has revealed that Kahuma’s chronic sickness was first reported by one of his neighbours in the neighbourhood WhatsApp forum on September 21.
Kahuma had been living in Ssendaula Zone in Ggaba, Makindye Division in Kampala, under the care of a nurse and two caretakers.
Though Kahuma did not want people near him, the neighbour sometimes allegedly talked to him on phone.
“I knew he was sick and I wanted to know how he was doing and also encourage him to take his medicine,” one of the neighbours who did not want to be named said.
Adding: “When we talked he sounded weak and, he told me he did not want his relatives to see him in that state because they would talk ill about him.”
Another woman described the deceased as a good neighbour who once called police to rescue her when robbers attacked her home at night.
At his mansion, the deceased kept a guard, a nurse to treat him, a nutritionist and always had a boda boda rider to send out in case he needed something.
The chairman of Ssendawula Zone, Mr Charles Okoth, described Kahuma as a reserved man and denied that money had been stolen from him.
