No fire outbreak at Kawempe fuel station - Police

KAMPALA. The police have dismissed reports that there was a fire outbreak that reportedly led to the loss of lives at Total Petrol station in Kawempe.

There are fake photos that have been circulating on social media purported to be from fuel station.

Relatedly, Total said in a statement that their operations are ongoing without any interruptions as alleged by the false alarm.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The truth of the matter is that there is no any fire out break at Total Patrol station, Kawempe. We have not registered any incident at the said patrol station".
Onyango urged Ugandans to disregard any rumours in relations to the alleged fire at the Total Petrol station.
He noted that the police are now hunting for the source of the fake alarm.

"We are investigating the source of this rumour," Onyango said in a statement sent out to newsrooms.
