Stella Njuba succumbs to cancer

KAMPALA. Stella Njuba the former parliamentary aspirant for Kyadondo East constituency in Wakiso district and daughter to former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) National Chairman the late Sam Njuba has succumbed to cancer, the family has announced.

She was 55 years old.

The mother to the deceased, Ms Gertrude Njuba confirmed the death in a telephone interview with Daily Monitor Saturday Morning.

“The family is in grief following Stella’s death. She has been sick for a long time battling cancer and God has decided to take her at this time,” Ms Gertrude said.

She said that Stella died at Le Memorial Hospital in Lweza along Entebbe road on Friday night and the body has been handed over to A Plus Funeral Services to manage the burial arrangements.

Ms Njuba said there will be a requiem service at the St Luke Ntinda Church of Uganda on Sunday at 3pm before the body is taken to their home at Nangabo, Wakiso district for burials Monday.

The deceased is survived by four children according to Ms Gertrude.

FDC which the deceased’s late father served mourned Stella with the party’s deputy secretary general Mr Harold Kaija posting on social media; “Sad News! Stella Njuba daughter of Late Hon Sam Kalega Njuba the former Chairman FDC has passed on. You have gone to be with the Lord. May you rest in paradise. Amen,”

Another former contestant for Kyadondo East MP seat Mr Muwada Ngunyingi described Stella’s death, on Facebook, as a loss of an “honest person”.

“It brings grief to hear such a loss of a honest person who had similar dreams of developing our people and empowering community. We had different political views thus the contest but her politics was dubbed with mutual respect. Certainly news of your demise leaves grief and pain to all of us. My sincere condolence to the family, friends and people of Kyadondo East,” Mr Ngunyingi posted.
