Ugandans in North America under the UNAA Causes group have rescheduled one of their programmes from the official Grand Hyat in New York to the iconic Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.

This implies that the Grand Finale Dinner will be held at the Marriot Marquis Hotel after selling out rooms at Grand Hyatt.

According to a statement from UNAA Causes, the move was prompted by the fact that they had already sold out rooms at Grand Hyatt yet they continue receiving subscriptions for the four-day festival that runs from August 29 to September 2.

“The September 1st, Dinner Gala at Marriot Marquis Hotel will feature the Nabagereka Development Foundation Fundraiser, Fashion Weekend and a series of performances led by the Legendary Afrigo Band,” the statement reads in part. “All other Uganda Festival activities will remain at the Grand Hyatt - Hotel from August 29th - September 1st.”

Also another expected change in the event according to sources, is the addition of Nigerian artiste, Chinedu Okoli, alias Flavour Nabania among a star-studded side that also includes Tanzania’s Nassib Abdul Juma, alias Daimond Platinumz.

Also performances will come from Uganda artistes; Choses Becky, Chris Evans, David Lutalo, Denmark-based Ugandan vocalist Joanita Lubega Zachariassen, Fik Fameika, Cindy Sanyu, and Spice Diana.

“Mr Flavour is expected as the main act for the grand opening of the Uganda Festival in New York,” a source privy to details in UNAA Causes said.
