The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has invited candidates whose Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results were withheld last week for a hearing.
“The board is preparing to give a hearing to the affected candidates. Schools and candidates will be invited to appear before Uneb examinations security committee on specified dates,” a press statement from Uneb signed by its executive secretary, Mr Dan Odongo, yesterday reads in part.
Uneb added that those found innocent will be exonerated and have their results released while the results of those that will be found culpable will be cancelled in accordance with Section 4 (3) of the Uneb Act.
Mr Odongo warned schools and parents of conmen asking for money to release the withheld results.
Uneb withheld results of 1,512 pupils for allegedly engaging in exam malpractice.

Mr Odongo explained that the withheld results were mainly due to cases of external assistance that was given to candidates by third parties inside the examination rooms.
