Make process of replacing stolen car number plates easier

Recently, someone wrote about rampant theft of car number plates in Uganda. Why can’t the police track the criminals when the phone contacts they use to demand ransom can be established?

The police are equipped to deal with such crimes. Ignoring public outcries is not only a grave mistake, but also criminal. It has been established that hardcore criminals start small. So by ignoring these “small” crimes, the police are breeding tomorrow’s thugs and this must not be allowed to continue.

When you analyse number plate theft issue, you tend to think that there is connivance about the stealing of number plates.

The matter gets more complicated when Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) make the process of replacing number plates very difficult. This is in spite of the fact that the law prohibits driving of a vehicle without a number plate?

I appeal to URA to make the process of acquiring duplicate number plates easier and less costly.
