Riders show skills on wet Garuga track in Round IV

The heavy downpour on Sunday morning did not stop riders in exhibiting their super skills during the fourth round of the Mountain Dew National MX Championship at Victoria Race Track Garuga yesterday.
Seasoned riders Maxime Van Pee (MX1), Fortune Sentamu, Ali ‘Bobo’ Omar in MX125, Waleed Omar (MX85cc) and youngsters William Blick Jr, Gift Sebuguzi, Liam Ntale and Ramathan Mubiru left the fans who watched the race yearning for more.
The most exciting race was in the MX 125 cc which saw Ali Omar Yasser, who was returning after close to four months out with injury, taking on Ssentamu.
Having lacked fitness, Bobo eventually came second to Ssentamu, who has gradually stamped his authority in the category.
“I didn’t expect a lot from this race, I have sat on the bike only four times since the injury healed but I have shocked myself. Imagine I won the first heat,” said Bobo, the three-time 125cc champion (2015, 16 and 2018) told Daily Monitor.
Van Pee, who came out top in MX1, urged the organisers to always keep on mixing the MX125cc with MX1 because it will bring the best out of the youngsters. Maxime also said wet conditions always change the style of riding and only the skilful can prevail.
